Data Recording Terms

The line of information displayed on the PLEDGE console for a reported incident may include data notes.  The definition of these notes will aid in your interpretation of the incident.

(Out of GPS Range): Due to poor satellite coverage, the handset enters full time record mode to ensure all types of incidents are reported to the console.

0.0 speed indicated:  Due to poor satellite coverage or when at a very low speed results in zero (0) speed being reported.

(Bluetooth connected):  Indicates incoming/outgoing calls with a Bluetooth enabled device.

GPS services are off:  Indicates location services have been switched off on the handset.

PLEDGE for Android has started:  Indicates location services have been switched from off to on.

PLEDGE for Blackberry has started:  Indicates that the handset has been activated (powered up) and PLEDGE is running.

PLEDGEping:  When an administrator texts a handset with “PLEDGEping” in the body of the text, the console will indicate the location and speed of the handset.

(Not Driving):  When the driver selects the “I’m not driving” key is selected, all incidents will be reported to the console with this notation.

Automatic SMS reply:  Indicates a response sent in reply to an incoming text stating that the driver is driving and will contact the sender when it is safe to do so.

(Emergency) [Android device]:  When the “Emergency” key is selected, the keypad on the device will appear and the dialer preloaded with “911”.  The driver must press the green call button to complete the call.

(Emergency) [Blackberry device]:  When the “Emergency” key is selected, the keypad will automatically dial 911.  This key must only be selected in a true emergency.

(Emergency) [iOS]: When the “Emergency” key is selected, the keypad will automatically dial 911.  This key must only be selected in a true emergency.

A map which displays an entire blue background and displaying red pin:  Indicates poor GPS coverage at time of incident.  It will default to 0 LAT/0 LONG coordinates.

For INCOMING CALLS

If an incoming call is answered by unlocking the handset and/or pressing the call button on handset, the transaction report will display (1) DAY, (2) DATE, (3) TIME, (4) NAME OF USER, (5) the ACTION; “INCOMING CALL”, (6) SPEED (IN MPH), the (7) INCOMING TELEPHONE NUMBER, and the (8) MAP location link.

For OUTGOING CALLS

If an outgoing call is made by unlocking the handset and dialing, the transaction report will display (1) DAY, (2) DATE, (3) TIME, (4) NAME OF USER, (5) the ACTION;  “OUTGOING CALL”, (6) SPEED (IN MPH), the (7) OUTGOING TELEPHONE NUMBER,  and the (8) map location link.

For OUTGOING CALLS – BLUETOOTH CONNECTED

If an incoming call is answered by unlocking the handset and/or pressing the call button on handset even though Bluetooth is enabled, the transaction report will display DATE, TIME, NAME OF USER, “OUTGOING CALL”, SPEED (IN MPH) and the INCOMING TELEPHONE NUMBER (BLUETOOTH CONNECTED).

For TEXT MESSAGING

If the handset is unlocked and a text is viewed and/or replied to,  the transaction report will display (1) DAY,

(2) DATE, (3) TIME, (4) NAME OF USER, (5) the ACTION; “OUTGOING TEXT”, (6) SPEED, (7) TELEPHONE NUMBER (TEXTED TO/FROM), (8) BODY OF THE TEXT, and the (9) MAP location link.

For CALLS WHILE OUT OF GPS RANGE

If the handset is (1) (Out of GPS Range) or the GPS receiver on the handset has been switched off, the transaction report will display DATE, NAME OF USER, TEXT or CALL TYPE, NUMBER TEXTED TO or CONTACTED TELEPHONE NUMBER and the BODY OF ANY TEXT.

Typical iOS Console Report Results

For INCOMING CALLS

If an incoming call is answered by unlocking the handset and/or pressing the call button on handset, the transaction report will display (1) DAY, (2) DATE, (3) TIME, (4) NAME OF USER, (5) the ACTION; “INCOMING CALL”, (6) SPEED (IN MPH), the (7) MAP location link.

For OUTGOING CALLS

If an outgoing call is made by unlocking the handset and dialing, the transaction report will display (1) DAY, (2) DATE, (3) TIME, (4) NAME OF USER, (5) the ACTION;  “OUTGOING CALL”, (6) SPEED (IN MPH), and the (7) map location link.

Employee Disables PLEDGE.  If an employee disables PLEDGE from their iOS device, this will be reported to the console.

For I’M NOT DRIVING

If the I’m Not Driving option is selected, the following information is reported to the management console:

(1) DAY, (2) DATE, (3) TIME, (4) NAME OF USER, (5) the ACTION; “Not Driving Button Pressed”, and the (9) MAP location link.

For EMERGENCY CALLS

If the Emergency option is selected, the following information is reported to the management console:

(1) DAY, (2) DATE, (3) TIME, (4) NAME OF USER, (5) the ACTION; “Dialed 911”, and the (9) MAP location link.
